Corruption has different manifestations, the scale and scope of its presence in society demand wide stakeholder cooperation in order to be able to tackle it successfully.
In our fight against corruption we would like to rely on the wider public as we cannot expect improvement without the strong support and cooperation of the citizens.
It is also in the best interest of the business
society that public money (e.g. through public procurements, tenders or any other public purchases) be spent in an honest, transparent and accountable way. Only a Hungarian economy based on trust and fair competition can survive in our globalized world.
Governments and politicians can influence in a large extent how the society reacts to corruption, whether people accept it as the norm or reject it and condemn those who are involved. Politicians and government officials are considered to be role models, their personal example shows the way for the public to follow. It would be a big step in cleaning up the business environment if the bill on political campaign financing were passed by Parliament.
Transparency International supports all initiatives - including any proposed by the government - to curb corruption. Until December 2008 our organization used to be a member of the Anti-Corruption Coordination Board, a governmental initiative originally set up with the task of elaborating an anti-corruption strategy and action plan.
Transparency international is ready to cooperate with researchers, experts and other non-profit organisations to promote and run projects together in the fight against corruption. Our every day activity cannot be conducted without the help of an ever growing group of volunteers.
In order to be able to continue the activity of Transparency International we have to guarantee our own funding through tender applications, donations and the support of the business community.
Donations can be made directly to our bank account. Donors' names will figure on our website.
