WHAT WE DO
Corruption causes serious problems in many areas in Hungary, both in the political and economic scenes. In order to function as a truly comprehensive anti-corruption organisation, we strive to deal with as many different fields as possible. We find it important to make party and campaign financing, public procurement, and the judiciary system more transparent, and to strengthen the protection of whistleblowers. Our goal is to follow up on the political and economic trends and to influence them with our trustworthy recommendations.
INDEXES AND REPORTS
Transparency International intends to develop reliable quantitative instruments, which can be used to measure transparency and corruption, both on local and international levels.
JUDICIARY
The functioning of courts is not transparent, and there are no means to enforce their accountability – due to the regulations and structure of administration that existed until 2011. To handle the problems revealed by the researchers, the judicial system had to undergo reforms, and some parts of it still need to be reformed.
BUSINESS SECTOR
Anti- corruption efforts should combine initiatives from the business community as well, otherwise Hungary cannot successfully participate in the global competition.
PUBLIC PROCUREMENT
TI intends to promote the development of the procurement regulatory system and the domestic public procurement culture through technical proposals, opinions on draft legislation, introduction of international best practices, and active participation of civil control.
PROTECTION OF WHISTLEBLOWERS
Whistleblowers play a vital role in exposing corruption, fraud, and mismanagement, and in preventing disasters that arise from negligence or wrongdoing.
